Weโ€™re excited to announce a run on the Sunflower Mine Trail, one of the more challenging routes in the Arizona backcountry. Due to the difficulty level, this ride is limited to 15 vehicles + Trail Leads, so donโ€™t wait to sign up.

This trail is a true desert gem. Combining several routes, it takes you through a rugged, scenic canyon to the historic Sunflower Mine (also known as National Mine). Originally operational from 1913 to 1965, the mine primarily produced cinnabarโ€”used in mercury processing and gold extractionโ€”along with smaller amounts of gold and silver before finally closing in 1985. While much of the original structure was removed in 2014, a few remnants still remain as a glimpse into Arizona's mining past.โฃ

But letโ€™s be honestโ€”the real thrill is in the drive. Get ready for some serious rock crawling, shaded canyon runs, and a variety of optional obstacles that will test both your skills and your rig. Narrow shelf roads wind through the hills, offering breathtaking views that make every tight turn worth it.โฃ

Please note: If you're hesitant about scraping your skid plates or hearing rocks kiss the underside of your Bronco โ€” this probably isnโ€™t the trail for you. Body damage is a real possibility here.โฃ
Plan for a Full Day Adventureโฃ
    โฃ
Weโ€™ll kick things off at the trailhead near the Mt. Ord exit off Highway 87 (Beeline Highway), where weโ€™ll air down and hold a quick driverโ€™s meeting. From there, weโ€™ll make our way along the Pine Mountain and Saddle Mountain trails to reach the Sunflower Mine loop. After completing the loop, weโ€™ll return to our original staging area to air up. While the trail can be run in about 4 hours, please plan for a full dayโ€”with a larger group, the run typically takes closer to 8 hours.โฃ
